Knorra Cookie Policy
Effective date: 2026-05-19 Last updated: 2026-05-15
The short version
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies (like local storage) to make Knorra work — keep you logged in, remember your preferences, keep the service secure. Our website analytics is cookieless by default. We do not use third-party advertising, cross-site tracking, or anything you would reasonably call "creepy."
This policy explains what we use, why, and how you can control it.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website saves on your device. They let the site recognise you between page loads and visits. Similar technologies (local storage, session storage, IndexedDB) work in related ways. We refer to all of them as "cookies" in this policy for simplicity.
Cookies we use
Cookies fall into two categories on Knorra. There is no third category — we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Strictly necessary
These cookies are required for the service to function. We don't ask consent for these because UK law (PECR Regulation 6(4)) doesn't require it.
| Name (or pattern) | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| knorra.session | Authenticates your session after sign-in | Session, or up to 30 days if you choose "remember me" |
| knorra.csrf | Protects against cross-site request forgery attacks | Session |
| knorra.workspace | Remembers which workspace you most recently used (if you belong to more than one) | 1 year |
| __Host-* and __Secure-* prefixed cookies | Security cookies set by our auth provider (Better-Auth) and reverse proxy (Cloudflare) | Session to 1 year, depending on cookie |
| knorra.cookie_consent_v1 | Remembers your preference settings for this policy (so we don't show the banner again) | 1 year |
Functional (preferences)
These remember your in-product choices. We ask consent on first visit via the cookie preferences banner.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| knorra.theme | Light / dark / system theme preference | 1 year |
| knorra.density | Compact / comfortable layout preference | 1 year |
| knorra.last_view | Remembers which dashboard view you last used | 30 days |
Analytics — cookieless
We use Plausible for website analytics. Plausible's default mode is cookieless — it does not set any cookies on your browser. It works by counting page views and event counts in an aggregate, anonymised way without identifying individual visitors and without tracking you across sites.
Because there are no cookies set, no consent is required for our analytics, and you do not need to take any action to opt out — there is nothing to opt out of in terms of cookies.
If you would still prefer Knorra not to count your visit at all, you can use a tracking blocker (uBlock Origin, Brave Shields, or your browser's built-in protections) — Plausible respects these by design.
What we don't use
- No third-party advertising cookies
- No social-media tracking pixels
- No cross-site behaviour tracking
- No fingerprinting (browser, canvas, audio context)
- No third-party analytics that set cookies (no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel)
How to control cookies
In the product
When you first visit knorra.ai, a cookie preferences banner asks for your choices about Functional cookies. You can change those preferences at any time at knorra.ai/cookies (or your account settings page once signed in).
In your browser
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you:
- Block all cookies (which will prevent Knorra from working)
- Block third-party cookies only (we don't set these anyway, so this won't affect Knorra)
- Delete existing cookies
- Get notified before accepting cookies
Instructions for the major browsers are linked on each provider's site (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We respect the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends GPC, we treat that as a refusal of non-essential cookies, and only strictly necessary cookies are set.
We do not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) headers because the standard was abandoned and is not consistently honoured anywhere — GPC is the modern replacement.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as we change our cookie usage. Material changes (adding tracking, changing categories, switching analytics tools to a cookie-using vendor) trigger a refreshed consent banner. Minor changes (typos, additions to the strictly-necessary list) are published silently.
